Along with artists Georgie Park and Ruth Scott we’ve started a new group called The Heuristics Laboratory. We met during the AA2A residency at Trent and have recently been accepted for a commission for Sideshow, the fringe to the British Artshow, which launches in Nottingham this autumn.
For Sideshow I will be creating a post-production laboratory in an open space in the new Newton Building at Trent. The plan is to perform a series of experiments under the title Telecine, using bits and bobs to make dual purpose installations/gadgets to transfer the film onto tape. Making the usually inaccessible, precise and expensive process of film post-production that is carried out in a dark, controlled environment into an open, improvised learning experience for me, leaving the fingerprints of the space on the final video.
